The Splendor of a Tropical Wedding Centerpiece

 |  Published in Wedding Party Thoughts

A wedding in a tropical paradise is what many young couples dream of and what better place for a fantastic tropical wedding than Tahiti – a piece of France in the South Pacific. Tahiti conjures up images of tall palm trees bordering white sandy beaches and turquoise lagoons. Indeed, an ideal location for a romantic wedding with a tropical wedding centerpiece on each table. In the weeks before the big day, the couple gets together with the reception venue staff and discusses what sort of table decorations would be quintessential of a tropical wedding. The best wedding centerpieces are what everyone wants and as the banter continues, ideas begin to form.

Most table enhancements are created around a theme and usually have something to do with the setting or type of wedding. Obviously if the wedding reception is being held at the Waldorf Hotel, for instance, then more than likely a tropical theme would not be employed. There are exceptions to this; just check out ‘Working Girl’. The best wedding centerpieces are usually something unique that will have guests mumbling about for hours. For a wedding in Tahiti, one has so much to choose from to create some wonderful centerpieces for each table. As this island nation is in French Polynesia, it stands to reason a French / Polynesian theme would be perfect. Designers usually incorporate palm trees or the water in their wedding centerpieces. The bride’s and groom’s hobbies are also taken into consideration. Wedding reception center designers have a slew of ideas that blend both cultures into one, leaving lasting memories for all in attendance.

For some reason weddings in tropical locations seem more romantic than those in other places. Perhaps it is the warm weather combined with color that gives us this feeling. It is true that when guests attend a wedding in the tropics, most feel a sense of freedom. This freedom is an escape from the norms of daily life; it is an escape from the mundaneness and a chance to enjoy the festivities of the day. Having a tropical wedding centerpiece on each table enhances these feelings. At any wedding party, the centerpieces are not just positioned on the tables for something to stare at during the long winded speeches, they create the reception’s atmosphere and in some strange way, keep the event lively. This is why having the best wedding centerpieces is very important.

Do Candles Make Good Wedding Centerpieces?

 |  Published in Wedding Party Thoughts

Decorating your wedding tables can be a lot of fun or not so much.  If you’re not a very creative person, you might be more clueless than excited.  All you need is a little bit of inspiration and direction.  With that, you can start creating your own decorations and loving the results.

Candles and flowers are probably the two most common wedding centerpieces.  They are often included on the tables, usually both, but do they really fit that well?  Are they a must for your wedding table centerpieces?  The truth of the matter is that sometimes candles work, and sometimes they don’t.

Traditionally, you will find a candle in the center of the table. This is how it often is at most weddings and restaurants as well.  It adds ambiance to the setting, especially in a darker room.  In that case, it becomes necessary for light at the tables.  On the other hand, candles might not work as well on outdoor tables.  Not only do you not need any light, unless it’s late at night, but even a light breeze might blow out the candles.  In this case, flowers and other centerpieces might be a better choice.

If you do decide to go with candles, you don’t have to go with just a single candle.  Adding lots of candles will look very beautiful.  Scatter many different sized candles throughout the center of the table.  Add some flowers in the center or a few stems here and there for a beautiful look.

Floating candles have become very popular.  You can have a few small balls with a floating candle in each, or you can have a large bowl with several floating candles.  With either choice, you put pretty rocks in the bottom, or even flowers in the water.  Just be careful that nothing has a chance to set on fire.

Making beautiful wedding centerpieces is possible.  Take your time choosing what you want and get inspired.  Look at pictures in magazines, on the web, and at other weddings.  When you can be satisfied with your wedding centerpieces and all the other parts of your wedding, you can enjoy your wedding!
